NANTICOKE, Pa. - The 8th ranked Northampton baseball team remained undefeated in conference play with a 10-2 victory over Luzerne County Community College on Thursday afternoon.
Dylan Tamecki hit a 2-run double in the first inning to give NCC a 2-0 lead, but the Trailblazers were able to score 2 runs off starter
Matt Roberts to knot the game at 2-2 after one inning.
An array of Spartan pitchers then combined to hold Luzerne scoreless over the next 8 innings, holding LCCC to only 5 hits on the day.
Dylan Pasnak (1.1 innings pitched, 0 runs, 0 hits allowed) earned the victory, improving to 1-0 on the season.
Nick Todero was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI,
Zach Sheranko was 2 for 3 with a stolen base and RBI and
Tyler Duplaga was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI to lead NCC.
Sheranko's RBI single in the 5th scored Duplaga, who had walked, to put NCC up 3-2.
Northampton, now 17-4 overall and 8-0 in EPAC / Region XIX, travels to Cumberland on Saturday in a battle of nationally-ranked teams.
Luzerne falls to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in Region XIX / EPAC.
