BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Zach Kantor (1-0) threw a complete game one-hitter, striking out 10 and walking 1 as Northampton downed Bucks County Community College, 10-0, in Region XIX baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Park.
Gilberto Seguara's double in the 7th inning broke up the no-hit bid by Kantor, who was relieved by Eddy Albertston in the 8th inning.
The Spartans got on the board early as
Mike Agosto singled, stole second and then scored on a
Zach Sheranko (4 for 5, 3 stolen bases, 2 RBI) single. Sheranko later scored on a
Tyler Ruoss sacrifice fly to put NCC up 2-0 after one.
Nick Todero's 2-run double in the 2nd inning scored
Josh McClain and
Alex Zaner to put the Spartans up 4-0.
In the 4th inning,
Luini Ortiz reached on an error and later scored on a passed ball to give NCC a 5-0 lead.
Sheranko drove home another run in the 5th inning, scoring Todero, and then scored on an error.
The Spartans closed Bucks out in the bottom of the 8th as
Seever Hoyak scored the 10th run on a Sheranko single to envoke the 10-run mercy rule.

Northampton, ranked 10th in the latest NJCAA national poll, improved to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in Region XIX.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday when they host Lehigh Carbon Community College at 3:30pm in a 9-inning Region matchup.
