BLUE BELL, Pa. -
Mike Anthony (2-1) threw a complete game 4-hitter, allowing 1 earned run, striking out 10 and walking 4 as Northampton downed Montgomery County Community College, 13-3, in Region XIX baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at Bach Field.
Northampton got on the board in the top of the 1st inning as
Nick Todero (3 for 5) doubled to open the game,
Mike Agosto (1 for 4) and
Zach Sheranko (2 for 2) each walked and
Dylan Tamecki (2 for 5) then laced a 2-run single to right field, scoring Todero and Agosto.
Luini Ortiz (2 for 2) then hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Sheranko to put NCC up 3-0.
In the 2nd inning, Todero singled and stole second and third and then scored on a
Tyler Ruoss (1 for 4) sacrifice fly.
In the 4th inning, Sheranko ripped a two-out triple to centerfield, followed by a Ruoss RBI double. Ortiz then singled to score Ruoss, putting NCC up 6-0.
Leading 11-3 after 6 innings,
Josh McClain (1 for 3) hit a solo homerun and
Tyler Duplaga doubled to left field, scoring
Ben Hauser to put the Spartans up 13-3.
The win moves Northampton to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in Region XIX.
Montgomery falls to 12-9 overall and 3-2 in Region XIX.
