Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener, 4-3, to Montgomery

BLUE BELL, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team opened the 2014 campaign with a tough 4-3 setback at the hands of the Mustangs of Montgomery County Community College on Tuesday afternoon at Bach Field.

Trailing 4-1 at halftime, the Spartans made a valiant comeback, scoring two goals while playing a man-down, but it wasn't enough as Montgomery was able to hold on for the victory.

"I give the guys a ton of credit," commented first year Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "they played hard and never quit ... once we get a few guys healthy, I think we can compete in our conference."

Baidy Ba had two goals for Northampton and Shayne McCormack added one for the Spartans, who fall to 0-1-0.   Brian Garcia had two assists and Zach Fuls recorded 8 saves in goal for NCC.  Montgomery outshot the Spartans, 12-7.

Northampton returns to action on Saturday when they host Delaware County Community College at 11:00am.
