Delaware County Tops Spartans in Men's Soccer

MEDIA, Pa. - Northampton Community College jumped out to an  early 1-0 lead on Saturday in men' soccer action, but the Phantoms of Delaware County Community College rattled off five unanswered goals to earn a 5-1 victory.

Zachary O'Toole scored on a direct kick from 40 yards out to give the Spartans an early advantage, but defensive lapses and lack of offensive execution once again plagued Northampton, which dropped its 6th straight contest.  "This one hurts," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "Delaware was a team that we felt we matched up with fairly well, but they simply outplayed us after we knocked home that early goal."

Zach Fuls made 9 saves for Northampton, as Delaware outshot NCC, 14 to 6.

Northampton defeated Delaware, 3-2, on September 6th in Bethlehem.

Northampton, now 1-7-0, hosts Montgomery County Community College on Tuesday at 3:30pm.  The Mustangs defeated Northampton, 4-3, in the season opener for both teams on September 2nd in Blue Bell, Pa.
