Koehler Sets All-Time Kills Record as Spartans Improve to 22-0

NEWTOWN, Pa. - Sophomore Emily Koehler broke the all-time kills record at Northampton as the Spartans downed conference foe Bucks County Community College, 25-14, 25-7, 25-10 on Tuesday evening.

Koehler, who needed 9 kills to break the record of 509 held by Anna Domyan (2012-13), finished with 14 giving her a two year total of 515.  Koehler, who already owns the Northampton record for kills in a season (321), currently leads the country in hitting percentage at .604.

The Spartans, ranked 5th in the latest NJCAA poll, started off slow vs. the Centurions, but Sawyer Hoyak (2 aces and 6 digs) and Olivia Bobyak (3 kills, 6 aces, 2 digs) got Northampton back on track.  "We were a little sluggish out of the gate," commented Head Coach Adrian Yaguez, "but a couple girls made some big plays which seemed to energize us and allow us to finish off the match."

Jax Babezki had 6 kills and Samantha Bertasavage added 4 as Northampton improved to 22-0 on the season.

The Spartans host EPAC rival Harrisburg Area Community College on Thursday at 7pm at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
