Women's Basketball Downs Ocean Behind Thompson's Triple-Double

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team improved to 15-6 overall with a 99-69 victory over Ocean County College on Thursday night at the Arthur L. Scott Center as sophomore Lauren Thompson finished with a triple-double (16 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists).

The Spartans pulled away from a 10 point halftime advantage, outscoring the Vikings 52-32 in the second half, behind a 23 for 46 effort from the field.

"Give Ocean credit," commented Head Coach Art Wolfe, "they did a nice job moving the ball and knocked down 10 3-pointers ... they have some very skilled players offensively, but I thought tonight was one of our better all-around games."

The Spartans finished 42 of 92 from the floor (45.7%), with five players finishing in double figures, Julia Craig (23), Nicole Amann (20), Thompson (16), Zeniyah Sanders (16) and Amber Farnholtz (10).

Craig added 11 assists and 7 steals as Northampton finished with assists on 30 of their 42 field goals.

The Spartans, 7-1 in Region XIX, return to the hardwood on Tuesday February 3rd when they host rival Lehigh Carbon Community College at 6pm on Sophomore Night.

Ocean drops to 6-8 overall and 5-7 in Region XIX.
