Amann's Big Night Leads Spartans Over Lehigh Carbon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Freshman Nicole Amann scored 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Northampton women's basketball team set a school record for points in game, with a 113-26 victory over Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday night at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

Amann finished 14 of 22 from the field to lead four scorers in double figures for Northampton.  The Spartans shot 52% (47 of 91) from the field in eclipsing the previous record of 112 points set on November 21, 1999 vs. Keystone College.

"It was a great send-off for Lauren and Samantha as they played their final regular season home game," commented veteran mentor Art Wolfe, "it was a good all around effort, but we will need to play at a higher level on Thursday at Brookdale."

Sophomore Lauren Thompson scored 22 points and dished out a career high 14 assists in her final regular season home game, while Samantha Miller finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds.  Zeniyah Sanders  had 13 rebounds and 19 points and Julia Craig added 19 points, 9 assists and 8 steals.

The Spartans, now 16-6 overall, travel to Lincroft, NJ on Thursday to face the 15-7 Jersey Blues at 5pm.

Lehigh Carbon falls to 2-14 with the loss.
