Gaye Leads Northampton Over Harrisburg

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sam Gaye (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) scored 3 goals, giving him 17 on the season, as Northampton defeated Harrisburg Area Community College, 6-2, on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.

Joey Jacona (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) added 2 goals and 2 assists and Baidy Ba (Bethlehem, PA /Freedom ) recorded a goal as Northampton jumped to a 3-1 halftime lead and scored at least 5 goals for the 7th time in 10 games this season.

Kenan Meral (Bethlehem, PA /Liberty ) recorded 9 saves in goal as Northampton improved to 8-2-0 on the season. Robert Bradford (Bethlehem, PA /Northampton ) added an assist, as did Colin Marsden (Fremoale, PA /Palisades) for Northampton. Coach McCarthy cited the play of Bryan Angel (Tobyhanna, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) and Matt McCoy (Upper Mt. Bethel, PA /Bangor) on the defensive side of the ball, saying, "Bryan and Matt did a good job today controlling the field."

Harrisburg falls to 5-5-0.

The Spartans travel to Media, PA on Tuesday for a make-up game vs. the Phantoms of Delaware County Community College at 3:30pm.
