BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball team won their 4th consecutive Region XIX championship on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center, downing 3rd seeded Bergen Community College 25-14, 25-12, 25-18 to clinch the title.
Jax Babezki (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South ) earned Tournament MVP honors, while
Bridget Lozier (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley ) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Babezki had 14 kills in the championship match, while Lozier added 13 kills and 4 digs.
Kalli Walling (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) recorded 12 digs,
Megan Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) had 8 digs and
Anona Bauman (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) had 35 assists as the Spartans improved to 24-6 overall.
The Spartans defeated Montgomery County Community College in the semi-finals at 11am (25-9, 25-15, 25-18) as Babezki had 12 kills,
Morgan Barnes (Macungie, PA/Salem Christian ) 6 kills, Walling 15 digs and Bauman 26 assists.
Northampton will now host the NJCAA District Championship on October 31st vs. Patrick Henry Community College (VA). Details will be announced this week on the match time. The winner of the District Championship will advance to the NJCAA national tournament in Rochester, Minnesota.
