Men's Soccer Falls to Bucks in Physical Battle

NEWTOWN, Pa. - In a physical battle, between two of the Region's top teams, Bucks County Community College outlasted Northampton 3-2 on Tuesday in men's soccer action.

After a 1-1 deadlock at intermission, Bucks was able to take a 3-1 lead before Joey Jacona (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) struck the back of the net in the 85th minute to make it 3-2. The Spartans got several good looks in the final five minutes, but were not able to convert. Sam Gaye (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) scored in the first half for Northampton, while Cesar Hernandez (East Stroudsburg, PA /Stroudsburg) picked up an assist.

Bucks outshot Northampton 17-15, with Kenan Meral (Bethlehem, PA /Liberty ) making 14 saves for the Spartans.

The loss drops Northampton to 6-2-0 overall and 6-2-0 in the EPAC.

Bucks improves to 9-3-1 overall and 8-2 in conference play.

The Spartans do not have long to dwell on the loss as they return to action on Wednesday October 7th at Lehigh Carbon Community College at 4pm.
