TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Northampton Baseball team picked up a doubleheader split on Saturday at Ocean County College, taking game one 14-7 and falling in game two, 7-1.
Mike Anthony (Audubon, PA /Methacton ) earned the victory in game one, going 6 innings, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits, striking out 6 to improve to 3-3 on the year.
Dylan Borawski (Hatfield, PA /North Penn ) pitched the 7th inning, allowing 1 run and 2 hits.
Luini Ortiz (Allentown, PA /Emmaus ) paced the offense with a 3 for 5 effort, including 2 homeruns and 6 RBI.
Frank Angeloni (Westville, NJ/Highland (NJ)) was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI,
Jake Lisinicchia (Easton, PA /Easton) was 3 for 4 with a double and
Roanderson Severino (Reading, PA /Reading Area ) was 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored, and a triple.
Trailing 4-2 after one inning, the Spartans outscored the Vikings 12-3 over the final 6 inning, pounding out 19 hits and taking advantage of 6 Ocean errors to earn the 14-7 victory.
In game two,
Zach Werner (East Stroudsburg, PA /E. Stroudsburg South ) took the loss, as Northampton fell 7-1. Werner threw a complete game, scattering 9 hits, while striking out 2, falling to 4-2. The Spartans only managed 6 hits in game two and committed 3 errors.
Frank Angeloni (Westville, NJ/Highland (NJ)) stayed hot at the plate, going 2 for 4,
Jake Lisinicchia (Easton, PA /Easton) was 2 for 3 and
Josh McClain (Tunkhannock, PA /Tunkhannock ) finished 1 for 4 with a double.
Northampton is now 14-10 overall and 5-4 in Region XIX, while Ocean moves to 12-3 overall and 8-3 in Region XIX.
Northampton returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Blackwood, New Jersey to face Camden County College in a non-conference doubleheader starting at noon.
