BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball snapped their 3-game losing streak with a 13-3 victory over Delaware County Community College on Tuesday afternoon, improving to 5-1 in conference play.
The Spartans jumped out with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, keyed by RBI singles from
Luini Ortiz (Allentown, PA /Emmaus ) and
Ben Hauser (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks - East ) and a RBI double by
Josh McClain (Tunkhannock, PA /Tunkhannock ). Â Northampton broke the game open in the 5th inning as
Troy Van Houten (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley ) and
Frank Angeloni (Westville, NJ/Highland (NJ)) both stroked RBI singles as the Spartans plated 5 runs.
Zach Kantor (Bethlehem, PA /Liberty ) earned the win, going 4.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 6. Â Frank Angeloni (Westville, NJ/Highland (NJ)) was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, Jakob Pacheco (Emmaus, PA /Emmaus ) was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and Josh McClain (Tunkhannock, PA /Tunkhannock ) finished 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored, a double and a RBI.
Northampton improves to 15-12 overall, 6-6 in Region XIX and 5-1 in conference play, while Delaware falls to 1-12 overal, 1-7 in Region and 1-5 in conference
The Spartans return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to Luzerne County Community College to face the Trailblazers in a conference doubleheader starting at 1pm Â
