MEDIA, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team improved to 2-0 in Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) play with a 17-3 victory over Delaware County Community College on Monday afternoon at Johnson Park.

The Spartans took a 1-0 lead after the first inning on a Luini Ortiz (Allentown, PA /Emmaus ) homerun and then added a run in the 2nd inning and a run in the 3rd before exploding for 4 runs in the 5th keyed by a Jake Lisinicchia (Easton, PA /Easton) 2-run single to take a 7-1 lead after 5 innings.

Ryan Erskine (Harleysville, PA /North Penn ) and Anthony Rodriguez (Easton, PA /Wilson ) closed the door on the Phantoms in the 8th inning, as both smashed 2-run singles as Northampton scored 6 runs to invoke a run-rule victory after 8 complete innings.  Erskine finished 2 for 2 with 4 RBI, while Rodriguez was 3 for 3 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.  

Ortiz finished 2 for 4, Lisinicchia was 3 for 5, Cory Snyder (Kintnersville, PA /Palisades ) 3 for 6 with 2 doubles and Josh McClain (Tunkhannock, PA /Tunkhannock ) was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI as Northampton hammered out 19 hits.

Walt Roland (Allentown, PA /Central Catholic ) earned the victory going 6.2 innings, striking out 10, walking none, while allowing 6 hits.  Matt Hassick (Whitehall, PA /Whitehall ) threw 1.1 innings in relief, allowing 2 hits and 1 run. 

Northampton, now 11-8 overall, is scheduled to travel to Blue Bell, PA on Tuesday to face Montgomery County Community College in an EPAC matchup at 3:30pm.
