Zach Werner (East Stroudsburg, PA /E. Stroudsburg South ) pitched a complete game victory in game two of Northampton's best of three series vs. Bergen to push the series to a winner-take-all game three on Sunday at noon in Paramus,NJ at Bergen Community College.
Game one was a back and forth affair with the Bulldogs striking first, knocking starter
Mike Anthony (Audubon, PA /Methacton ) out of the game after 1.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 3 hits while walking 3. Â Bergen had a 5-1 lead after two complete innings, but relief pitcher
Walt Roland (Allentown, PA /Central Catholic ) came in and kept the Spartans in the game, going 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs on 11 hits while striking out 7. Â Northampton battled back to it 5-5 after five complete innings, but Bergen regained control with 2 runs in the 6th and 1 in the 7th. Â The Spartans cut the lead to 8-7 in the top of the 9th and had runners on first and third, but Bergen's leftfielder made a diving catch to end the game.
Anthony Rodriguez (Easton, PA /Wilson ) was 3 for 3,
Ben Hauser (Pipersville, PA/Central Bucks - East ) was 2 for 3 with a double,
Jake Lisinicchia (Easton, PA /Easton) was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI and
Roanderson Severino (Reading, PA /Reading Area ) was 2 for 5 with a double to lead Northampton in game one.
Zach Werner (East Stroudsburg, PA /E. Stroudsburg South ) took the hill in game two in a must-win situation and put the Spartans on his back, earning the complete game victory, 10-6. Â Werner (7-3) allowed 6 runs on 11 hits, walking one and striking out 6 to keep Northampton's season alive. Â The Spartans opened things up with 4 runs in the 3rd inning, eventually taking a 10-1 lead into the bottom of the 9th before the Bulldogs were able to push across 5 runs.

Jakob Pacheco (Emmaus, PA /Emmaus ) as 2 for 5 with a double and a RBI,
Josh McClain (Tunkhannock, PA /Tunkhannock ) was 3 Â for 5 with a RBI,
Jake Lisinicchia (Easton, PA /Easton) was 3 for4 with 2 RBI and
Cory Snyder (Kintnersville, PA /Palisades ) returned from the injured reserve list to collect 2 hits, including a double. Â
Northampton (23-17), the #6 seed will travel back to Bergen on Sunday to face the 3rd seeded Bulldogs (21-12) at noon in a single 9-inning game for the right to advance to the Region XIX Final Four next weekend at Brookdale.Â
