Men's Soccer Set to Host Conference-Leading Bucks County

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team will get an early season test on Tuesday as they host Bucks County Community College (5-1-1 / 4-0-1) at 3:30pm in the EPAC game of the week.

The Spartans, 2-0-0 under 2nd year Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, will look to defeat the Centurions for the first time since October 1, 2013.  "Bucks has been the team to beat in the EPAC for the last couple of years," remarked McCarthy, "Coach Burroughs has built a good program ... Tuesday will be a great opportunity to see how far we have come since last season."  Bucks defeated Northampton twice during the 2014 season, outscoring the Spartans 15-0 in the two matches, winning 10-0 on September 18th and 5-0 on September 25th.

Northampton which is 2-0-0 for the first time since joining the NJCAA in 2010, has been led by Northampton High School graduate Sam Gaye (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) who has scored 6 goals and recorded 2 assists on the season.  "Sam has played a big role for us early this season," echoed McCarthy, "at this point our offense is still ahead of our defense ...  we will need to play solid on the defensive end against Bucks if we are going to compete."
