Box Score TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Ocean County College women's basketball team unleashed a tsunami from long range on Thursday evening, draining 12 three-pointers, in an 87-69 victory over Northampton at Cohen Hall.
The Vikings capitalized on a number of Spartan errors early in the contest and raced out to a 22-12 lead and never looked back in winning the crucial Region XIX match-up. "We made way too many mistakes tonight, especially during our first 7 possessions," remarked Head Coach
Tara Belfield, "you can't give a team like Ocean extra opportunities and tonight we simply got outplayed."
Julia Craig (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) led Northampton with 19 points and 3 assists, while Kyle Adams finished with 16 and
Zeniyah Sanders (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) added 10.
Deana McKeller (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) paced Northampton on the boards with 5 rebounds, while
Tytiona Goodwin (Allentown, PA /Dieruff) recorded 4 steals.
The loss drops Northampton to 14-4 overall and 12-2 in Region XIX.
Ocean, which won its 9th straight game, improves to 14-3 overall and 12-3 in Region XIX.
Northampton's game vs. Cumberland scheduled for Saturday has been postponed due to the severe weather predicted for the area. The Spartans will return to action on the 26th of January when they travel to Harrisburg Area Community College.
The Cumberland game has been rescheduled for February 9th at 6pm at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
