BLUE BELL, Pa. - Despite missing three starters, the Northampton men's soccer team played one of its most complete games of the year in dismantling Montgomery County Community College, 6-1, on Tuesday afternoon at the Bach Soccer Complex.
"We had some guys that really stepped up today," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I thought
Mohamed Aisset (Allentown, PA /William Allen ) and
Majed Salama (Allentown, PA/Catasauqua ) really did a good job for us in extended minutes."
Joey Jacona (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) had 2 goals and 3 assists, giving him 16 goals and 7 assists on the season. Jacona's 16 goals are tied for 4th most in the country.
Sam Gaye (Bath, PA/Northampton ) added his 12th goal of the season,
Armando Gonzalez (Bath, PA/Nazareth) added 2 markers and Aisset had a goal and a helper to round out the scoring for the Spartans.
Kenan Meral (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ) earned the victory, making 5 saves between the pipes.
The victory moves Northampton to 10-2-0 overall and 10-0-0 in EPAC play. The 10 wins marks the first time since the 2009 and 2010 seasons that the Spartans have had back-to-back double digit victory seasons (11-5-0 in 2015).
