Northampton's Jacona Named EPAC Player of the Year

NEWTOWN, Pa. - Northampton sophomore Joey Jacona (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) has been named Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year, as announced by the conference office on Friday evening. 

Jacona, a First Team All EPAC selection last season, is currently tied for 6th in the country with 18 goals scored this season and also has 7 assists.  Joining Jacona on the All-Conference team are teammates Sam Gaye (Bath, PA/Northampton ) and Kenan Meral (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ).  Gaye, who also was First Team selection last season, currently has 12 goals and 5 assists.  Meral, a sophomore goalkeeper, earns First Team honors after recording 4 shutouts and making 82 saves.

The Spartans, 11-2-0 overall, earned their second consecutive EPAC Championship with a 3-2 victory over Bucks County Community College on Thursday afternoon.
