PARAMUS, NJ - The Northampton Baseball team extended their winning streak to eleven games with a doubleheader sweep of Bergen Community College on Sunday at Hernandez Field.

GAME ONE - WON 2-1
Northampton rode the right arm of Tyler Forbes (Athens, PA/Athens Area ), who threw a complete game 2-hitter, allowing 1 run,striking out 9 while improving to 4-0 on the season as the Spartans prevailed 2 to 1.  Colton Hooker (Warrington, PA/Upper Moreland ) was 1 for 3 with a homerun in the 2nd inning, while Ryan Nazario (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) finished 2 for 4 with a double.  With the score tied 1-1, Franklin Ramirez (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) tripled to lead off the 5th inning and scored what proved to be the winning run on a RBI single from Aaron Gentry (Reading, PA/Exeter).

GAME TWO - WON 4-3
The Spartans won game two 4-3, throwing out the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning. Brendon Caraway (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades) earned the victory in relief of starter Walt Roland (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic), throwing 2 innings, allowing 1 run and no hits.  Roland left after 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 3.  Tyler Caraway (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades ) earned the save, pitching the 7th inning, allowing 1 run.  Ryan Nazario (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) continued to swing a hot bat, going 1 for 2 with a double and a RBI, Collin McGeary (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic ) was 1 for 3 with a RBI and Aaron Gentry (Reading, PA/Exeter) was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

The sweep improves Northampton to 16-3 overall and 5-0 in Region XIX.

Bergen falls to 8-10 overall and 0-4 in Region XIX.

The Spartans will have a quick turnaround as they host EPAC rival Lehigh Carbon in a single 9-inning make-up game on Monday at 3:30pm.
