Baseball Dominates LCCC to Clinch 4th EPAC Title

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team clinched their 4th EPAC title in 5 seasons with a 10-0 victory over Lehigh Carbon Community College on Wednesday afternoon at Lenhart Field.  

The Spartans got on the board early, scoring two runs in the top of the 1st, as Roanderson Severino (Reading, PA/Reading ) singled, stole second, stole third and then scored when the throw from the Cougar catcher skipped into left field.  Ryan Nazario (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) then walked, stole second and scored on a RBI single from Colton Hooker (Warrington, PA/Upper Moreland ).  The Spartans added a run in the 2nd inning as Severino doubled and scored on a RBI single from Angel Lopez (Pennsburg, PA/Perkiomen School ).  

In the 4th inning, Liam Grande (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley ) led off with a single and then scored on a RBI triple from Jake Pacheco (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus)  Pacheco (2 for 3, 2 triples, 2 RBI) scored on a RBI single by Nazario (2 for 4, 2 SB, RBI) who then stole second and scored on a RBI single from Hooker (3 for 4, 2 RBI).  Lopez, who had walked, eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Collin McGeary (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic ), making the score 7-0 after 3.5 innings.  Northampton added 2 runs in the 5th as Grande doubled and then scored off a Pacheco triple  Pacheco scored Northampton's 9th run on a wild pitch.  In the 6th, the Spartans increased their lead to 10-0 as McGeary doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly from Jake Lisinicchia (Easton, PA/Easton ).

Kyle Arganbright (York, PA/Hempfield ) earned the win on the mound, going 5 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits and fanning 6, improving 3-0.  Tyler Caraway (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades ) and Tyler Forbes (Athens, PA/Athens Area ) both got work as well, combining on 2 innings of no-hit ball, with 4 strikeouts. 

The victory was Northampton's 10th straight in the series, improving their record to 10-0 over Lehigh Carbon since both schools became members of the NJCAA. 

Northampton, which received votes in the latest NJCAA poll, improved to 25-8 overall, 13-5 in Region XIX and finishes EPAC play with a record of 8-0.

LCCC, fighting for a playoff spot, drops to 16-15 overall, 9-10 in Region XIX and 5-2 in conference play. 

The Spartans are now off until Saturday April 30th when they host the Cougars of Camden County College in doubleheader, starting at noon.
