BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball dropped a pivotal NJCAA Region XIX doubleheader on Saturday, falling to Camden County College, 9-2 and 8-7, at Spartan Park.
GAME ONE (Lost 9-2)
Camden broke open a 2-1 game scoring 5 runs with 2 outs in the top of the 4th inning.Â
Tyler Forbes (Athens, PA/Athens Area ) took the loss, falling to 4-2 on the season.Â
Ryan Nazario (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) was 3 for 4,
Liam Grande (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley ) was 2 for 3 and
Colton Hooker (Warrington, PA/Upper Moreland ) was 1 for 3 with an RBI to pace the Spartan offense.
GAME TWO (Lost 8-7)
Camden broke open a 6-6 tie in the top of the 4th inning, scoring the go ahead run on a wild pitch, making the score 7-6. The Cougars added an insurance run in the top of the 7th on a sacrifice fly, extending their lead to 8-6. The Spartans scored a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 7th, but stranded a runner on second with back to back to strikeouts to end the game.Â
Ryan Nazario (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) was 1 for 4 with a 2-run homerun and
Aaron Gentry (Reading, PA/Exeter) was 2 for 3 wtih a double and 2 RBI.Â
Tyler Caraway (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades ) took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the year.
The two losses drop Northampton to 25-10 overall and 13-7 in Region XIX.
Camden improves to 21-16 overall and 9-6 in Region XIX.
The Spartans are scheduled to host NJCAA Division II member Raritan Valley Community College in a doubleheader on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for noon.
