BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sophomore
Joey Jacona (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ) tied his own school record, scoring 5 goals on Thursday afternoon to lead Northampton to a 10-0 victory over Lehigh Carbon Community College in Region XIX men's soccer action.
Jacona, who scored 5 goals in a game last season vs. Delaware County Community College (10/19/2015), had 2 goals in the first half and 3 in the second, as the Spartans improved to 2-0-0 overall. "Joey just has a knack for the goal," explained Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "he has the uncanny ability to make something happen and find the back of the net." Jacona now has 7 goals this season, giving him 33 for his career, only 3 behind the all-time school record of 36 held by Peter Underwood (2007,08).

Sam Gaye (Bath, PA/Northampton ),
Raul Vegas (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South ),
Tyler Eichelbaum (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) and
Aaron Timbe (Elgin, IL/Larkin (IL)) each added goals, while
Armando Gonzalez (Bath, PA/Nazareth) tallied 3 assists,
Cesar Hernandez (East Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) 2 and
Mohamed Aisset (Allentown, PA /William Allen ) 2. Gaye and Vegas each added an assist, while
Kenan Meral (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ) earned his 2nd shutout of the season, making 2 saves.
Northampton hosts Delaware County Community College on Saturday at noon.
The loss drops Lehigh Carbon to 1-4-0 overall.
