MEDIA, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team opened conference play on Thursday afternoon with a convincing 12-7 victory over Delaware County Community College at Phantom Park.
Angel Lopez (Santurce, PR/Perkiomen School) led the 11 hit attack with a 3 for 5 performance, including 2 doubles and 4 RBI, while
Cody Brown (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) finished 3 for 4 with a triple and
Franklin Ramirez (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) was 2 for 4 with 3 stolen bases.
Colton Langworthy (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) earned the victory, going 5 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits while fanning 2.
Erick Reyes (Allentown, PA/William Allen),
Zach Conley (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) and
Garrett Alread (Victor, NY/Victor Central (NY)) all saw action over the last four innings to close out the win.
Northampton improves to 8-3 overall, 2-0 in Region XIX and 1-0 in the EPAC, while Delaware falls to 1-4 overall, 1-2 in Region XIX and 0-1 in conference.
The Spartans are scheduled to open up the home portion of their schedule on Saturday when they host Brookdale Community College, ranked #1 in the country in NJCAA Division III. The doubleheader is slated to begin at noon.
