BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 10th ranked Northampton Baseball team won their 9th straight game, downing Bucks County Community College, 14-0, on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Park.
Northampton scored 5 runs in the 1st inning, highlighted by a 2-run triple from
Angel Lopez (Santurce, PR/Perkiomen School), and cruised to victory, pounding out 14 hits.
Tyler Caraway (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades) led a cavalcade of pitchers, striking out 3 in one inning of work to earn his 5th victory of the season. The Spartan pitching staff only allowed only 3 hits in shutout, while striking out 12.
Franklin Ramirez (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) finished 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI,
Tyler Melko (Knoxville, PA/Cowanesque Valley) was 2 for 3 with a double,
Michael Ferrara (Cresco, PA/Pocono Mt. East) went 3 for 3,
Cody Herestofa (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) 2 for 4 and
Liam Grande (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley) 2 for 4 to pace the Spartan attack.
Northampton improves to 16-3 overall, 6-0 in Region XIX and 5-0 in the EPAC. Northampton is now 12-0 all-time vs. Bucks.
Bucks falls to 1-9 overall, 1-8 overall and 0-5 in conference.
The Spartans are back in action on Saturday when they host Division II Raritan Valley Community College in a doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 12pm. The Spartans will be raising money for the
"Focht Fight" on Saturday, a fundraising effort for a former Northampton employee who is currently fighting stage IV brain cancer. All proceeds will go directly to the Focht Family to offset escalating medical costs.
