BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 5th ranked Northampton Baseball team won their 18th straight game in dominating fashion, downing Montgomery County Community College, 23-0, on Thursday afternoon at Spartan Park.
The Spartans scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and never looked back in racking up 23 hits in the lopsided victory.
Colton Hooker (Warrington, PA/Upper Moreland) was 4 for 5 with a double, homerun and 5 RBI, Tyler "Big Country" Melko was 3 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBI,
Angel Lopez (Santurce, PR/Perkiomen School) finished 2 for 2 with 2 RBI,
Cody Keane (Clermont, FL/East Ridge (FL)) was 3 for 3 with a double and a RBI and
Michael Ferrara (Cresco, PA/Pocono Mt. East) had 2 hits, a double and a RBI.
Liam Grande (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley) earned the win with 4 innings of work, allowing no runs on 2 hits while striking out 7, improving to 3-0 on the year.
Tristan James (Towanda, PA/Towanda Area) got 2 innings of work, striking out 4 and
Tyler Caraway (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades) finished things off in the 7th, striking out 1. The trio limited Montgomery to 2 hits on the afternoon.
The victory vaults Northampton to 25-3 overall, 13-0 in Region XIX and 9-0 in the EPAC.
Montgomery falls to 3-14 overall, 2-10 in Region XIX and 2-6 in conference play.
In their two meetings this season, Northampton outscored the Mustangs 36-1.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they host Valley Forge Military College in a doubleheaders slated to start at noon.
