NEWTOWN, Pa. - Holding a slim 4-3 lead heading into the top of the 5th inning, the Northampton Baseball team erupted for 10 runs and then tacked on 13 more in the 7th to down Bucks County Community College, 28-4 on Monday afternoon at Centurion Park.
The Spartans finished with 18 hits, led by
Tyler Melko (Knoxville, PA/Cowanesque Valley) who was 4 for 7 with 3 RBI,
Franklin Ramirez (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) 3 for 4 with a double, triple and 3 stolen bases,
Christian Del Toro (Trujillo Alto, PR/Perkiomen School ) 3 for 4 and
Angel Lopez (Santurce, PR/Perkiomen School) 1 for 3 with 3 RBI.
Colton Langworthy (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) earned the win in relief of
Braedon Rybak (East St. Paul, CND/International (CND)), going 4 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 6 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Ryback pitched 3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, striking out 3 and walking 4.
Colton Hooker (Warrington, PA/Upper Moreland) and
Liam Grande (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley) were each 2 for 4 as the Spartans improved to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in Region XIX and 2-0 in the EPAC.
Bucks falls to 1-4 overall and 1-3 Region XIX and 0-2 in conference play.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday when they host Luzerne at 3:30pm in a single 9 inning game.
