BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Men's Soccer team exploded for 10 goals on Tuesday afternoon in a decisive 10-3 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College at Spartan Field.
Andrew Tinna (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) tied his own single-game record by scoring 5 goals, while
Tyler Eichelbaum (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth ) added 2 markers as five different Spartans found the back of the net vs. the Hawks. "We really moved the ball well," commented Head Coach
Craig Root, "the guys are starting to read each other better and anticipate movement and hopefully that will continue to lead to positive outcomes."
Reginald Wilson (Monrovia, Liberia/J.W. Harris ),
Jose Aponte (Allentown, PA/William Allen ) and
Igor Malaquias (Vila Belha, Brazil /Colegio Ateneu do Espirito Santo) each added goals for Northampton, which improved to 2-0-1 overall.
Tinna's 5 goals give him 11 on the season, which ranks 2nd in the country in NJCAA Division III.
James D'Amato (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mt. West ) earned the win in goal, stopping 9 shots, including a penalty kick, to earn the victory. Root cited
Brody Tucker (Stroudsburg, PA /Notre Dame - East Stroudsburg) for his defensive effort, stating that he, "played a strong defensive game."
Harrisburg falls to 0-2-0 with the loss.
The Spartans are back on the pitch Thursday when they travel to Media, Pa. to face the Phantoms of Delaware County Community College.
