TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Northampton Volleyball team picked up their first two Region XIX victories of the season, downing Ocean County College and Bergen Community College on Saturday at the Ocean tri-match.
In match one vs. Ocean, the Spartans downed the hosts 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 behind 32 assists from
Alysce Molchan (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ), 11 kills from
Katrina Shelly (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield ) and 10 digs from
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ).
Emily Petrat (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom ) added 7 kills, as did
Laura Sweger (Elizabethville, PA/Upper Dauphin) as the Spartans improved to 10-1, while the Vikings fell to 4-3.
In match two, Northampton earned their second sweep of the day, downing Bergen 25-10, 25-13, 25-14.
Katrina Shelly (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield ) recorded 10 kills and 9 digs,
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 12 digs,
Emily Petrat (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom ) notched 7 kills and
Alysce Molchan (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) was credited with 28 assists.
The sweep moves Northampton to 11-1 on the season and 2-0 in Region XIX, while Bergen falls to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in Region XIX.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to NJCAA Division I powerhouse Monroe College (New York City).
