MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The 7th ranked Northampton Baseball team will hit the road toward Pennsylvania on Friday morning after completing their spring trip schedule today, splitting a twinbill vs. Westmoreland Community College (PA) and Monroe College (NY), to finish 6-4 overall.
GAME ONE - vs. Westmoreland County Community College (PA) - Won 15-0
The Spartans opened their final day in South Carolina with a 15-0 victory over in-state opponent Westmoreland.
Noah Weber (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) earned the victory on the bump, throwing a complete game 2-hitter. Weber struck out 7 and walked 2 in the shutout victory
Offensively,
Henry Peguero (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) went 2 for 3, including a grand slam in the 4th inning,
Mike Ferrara (Cresco, PA/Pocono Mt. East) was 3 for 3,
Cody Brown (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) 2 for 3 with 2 RBI,
Derek Stento (New Milford, PA/Blue Ridge) 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and
Corey Stouffer (Souderton, PA/North Penn) was1-1 with a triple and 2 RBI.
The Spartans pounded out 12 hits and committed no errors in the victory.
GAME TWO - vs. Monroe College (NY) - Lost 2-4
In their final spring trip contest, the Spartans faced NJCAA Division I Monroe College from New York City and took an early 2-0 lead, before falling 4-2.
Trevor McGee (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) had a solid outing on the mound, going 6 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned), striking out 7 and walking 4.
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) pitched the 7th inning, allowing no runs and no hits while fanning 2.
Henry Peguero (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) stayed hot, finishing 2 for 2 with a double and homerun and
Tyler Melko (Knoxville, PA/Cowanesque Valley) was 1 for 3 with a double and a RBI to pace the Spartans.
Adante Rhodes (Upper Marlboro, MD/Riverdale Baptist (MD)) was 1 for 2 with a stolen base.
The Spartans, now 6-4 overall, are off until March 24th when they are scheduled to travel to Onondaga Community College to face the Lazers and Herkimer County Community College.
