SYRACUSE, NY - The Northampton Baseball split their two games on Sunday to finish 1-3 at the Lazer Classic, hosted by Onondaga Community College.
GAME ONE - vs. Onondaga - Lost 4-0
The Northampton baseball dropped their 4th consecutive game, falling 4-0 to Onondaga on Sunday morning.
The Spartans only managed 4 hits in the shutout loss, led by
Tyler Melko (Knoxville, PA/Cowanesque Valley), who finished 2 for 3 at the plate.
Drew Jackson (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the year. Jackson lasted 3.2 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) and 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 3.
Nicholas Klee (Reading, PA/Exeter) pitched the final 2.1 innings, striking out 4 and walking none, as he allowed no runs on 1 hit.
GAME TWO - vs. Herkimer - Won 4-3
Alex Super (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) picked up the complete game victory, improving to 3-0 on the season, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits while fanning 6, as the Spartans prevailed 4-3.
Tyler Melko (Knoxville, PA/Cowanesque Valley) had another 2 for 3 performance, picking up a RBI, while
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) finished 1 for 2 with 2 RBI.
Henry Peguero (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) was 1 for 3 with a RBI,
Christian Del Toro (Trujillo Alto, PR/Perkiomen School) was 2 for 3 and
CJ Gantz (Bath, PA/Northampton) went 1 for 3 with a run scored to pace the Spartans.
Northampton, ranked 10th in the latest NJCAA poll, moves to 7-7 overall.
The Spartans are scheduled to travel Rowan College @ Burlington County on Thursday March 29th for a single 9-inning matchup with the Division II Barons.
