CHARLOTTE, NC - Coming off a 26-6 season which saw them qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament for the 4th time in 5 years, the Northampton women's volleyball team is ranked 6th in the NJCAA preseason poll released Wednesday by the national office.
The 2018 season will mark the return to the sideline of volleyball coaching icon
Adrian Yaguez, who stepped away for a season following the 2016 campaign. Yaguez brings a wealth of knowledge and success to the court, accumulating a 166-17 record during his 6-year tenure, which included 5 Region XIX titles and 3 trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.
The five-time Region XIX Coach of the Year will have a young group this season and will look to returners
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ),
Samantha Hatfield (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) and
Sarah DiGrazia (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth ) to provide leadership both on the floor and off. "While we will be young, it is not fair at this level to use that as an excuse," remarked Yaguez, "every team is young, we will need to work hard in practice and slowly build toward the culture of success that we have had in place here."
The Spartans are scheduled to open the 2018 campaign on August 30th at home vs. Raritan Valley Community College at 6pm.
