NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team dropped a tough road matchup on Tuesday afternoon, falling to Bucks County Community College, 5-0, at Burroughs Field.
Freshman goaltender
Matthew Doyle-Sochan (East Stroudsburg, PA/Duncan U. Fletcher High (FL)) led the Spartans with 10 saves, while
Andrew Tinna (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock Area) had 3 of Northampton's 6 shots.
William Winters (Albrightsville, PA/Pocono Mt. West) played the last 10 minutes in goal, finishing with 3 saves.
Northampton battled Bucks to a 1-0 game at halftime, but the physical nature of the game began to wear-down the short-handed Spartans in the second half, as Bucks was able to convert on 4 opportunities to earn the 5-0 victory.
"I can't fault our effort," echoed Head Coach
Mario Barrantes, "the guys fought, we just didn't have enough legs to compete against a team as physical as Bucks ... injuries left us with only 11 healthy players today, so I really have to give those guys a ton of credit."
The Spartans, now 2-3-0 overall, host Montgomery County Community College on Thursday at 3:30pm.
The victory moves Bucks to 3-2-0 overall.
