BETHLEHEM, Pa. - And there was one. The Northampton women's volleyball team knocked Harrisburg Area Community College from the ranks of the unbeaten on Thursday night, leaving the Spartans as the only undefeated team in Region XIX.
The Spartans topped the Hawks 3-1, winning 25-20, 25-19, 19-25, 25-12 in the highly-touted showdown, as
Sarah DiGrazia (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) led Northampton with 10 kills and
Savanna Jordan (Bath, PA /Bethlehem Catholic) was credited with 31 assists.
"It wasn't easy," commented Head Coach
Adrian Yaguez, "but we knew Harrisburg would give us a battle ... I think the girls are really starting to become confident in one another and that is definitely helping us as we move toward regionals."
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 9 kills and 15 digs,
Madelyn Deloglos (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) recorded 8 kills and 4 blocks and
Abby Orth (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had 3 aces and 15 digs for the Spartans.
Northampton, now 7-3 overall and 5-0 in Region XIX, have now won 96 consecutive Region XIX Division III matches.
The Spartans will next host NJCAA Division II Harcum College on October 2nd at 7pm.
Harrisburg falls to 10-1 overall and 8-1 in Region XIX.
