BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's tennis team dropped their first match of the season on Saturday, falling to perennial Region XIX power Camden County College, 8-1, at Northwood Racquet Club.
An injury to
Rebecca Packo (Bethlehem, PA /Freedom )Â during warm-ups led to a flurry of activity and then a late line-up shuffle for Head Coach
Megan Sell, which forced Northampton's #3, #4, #5, and #6 players to have to jump one spot in the rotation and thus leaving the #6 singles spot as a forfeit, along with the #3 doubles.
"We originally thought we would just be forfeiting at #2 singles," remarked Sell, "but then we found due to a stipulation in the rules we would need to adjust our ladder and move everyone up a spot."
Elise Van Ormer (Macungie, Pa /Emmaus) remained undefeated on the season at #1 singles, winning the only match for the Spartans.Â
