BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Middlesex County College on Saturday afternoon, falling to 2-2-0 overall on the season.
Despite the 3-0 final, Head Coach
Mario Barrantes found a number of positives to build on, "Today was without a doubt, the best we had played all season," commented Barrantes, "we had a number of great opportunities to score and just couldn't find the back of the net. It was a honestly a very evenly played game, you just have to give Middlesex credit, as they were able to make a couple big plays that made the difference in the game."
Freshman goalkeeper
Matthew Doyle-Sochan (East Stroudsburg, PA/Duncan U. Fletcher High (FL)) had an outstanding game for the Spartans, making 10 saves, while
Andrew Tinna (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock Area) led the offense with 4 shots on goal.
The Blue Colts held a slim 1-0 halftime lead after converting a penalty kick and then added two tallies mid-way thru the second half to secure the victory.
The Spartans return to action on September 11th when they travel to Newtown, PA to face EPAC-rival Bucks County Community College at 3:30pm.
Middlesex improved to 3-2-0 overall with the victory.
