WAYNE, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack and pressure defense to pick up their first victory of the season, 91-38, over Valley Forge Military College on Saturday afternoon. 
Ashley Robinson (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South) scored a team-high team 26 points, including 5 3-pointers, and 
Briona McClain (Stroudsburg, PA /Pocono Mt. West ) added 22 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks to pace the Spartan attack.

The Spartans jumped out to a 47-24 halftime lead and then coasted to the 53-point victory.
"We did a much better job today taking care of the ball (9 turnovers) and shooting free throws (19/28)," remarked Head Coach 
Alyssa Bonenberger, "we have really been stressing those items in practice after our opener at TC3 and today it paid big dividends."
Kelsey Miller (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) scored 12 points and recorded 6 steals, 
Mary Theresa Lehman (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Wyoming Seminary ) handed out 6 assists and 
Maria Pezzino (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic ) added 9 points, as eight of the nine Spartans in uniform scored. 
The victory moves Northampton to 1-1 overall, while Valley Forge Military College falls to 0-1. 
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Nanticoke, PA to face Luzerne County Community College at 5pm.
