BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Community College of Philadelphia Lions started quickly and never let up in downing the Northampton women's basketball team, 97-45, on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Lions shot 44% for the game (41 of 93) and out-rebounded the Spartans 62-44 to move to 8-3 overall.
"Credit Philadelphia, they outplayed us tonight in all phases of the game," remarked Head Coach
Alyssa Bonenberger, "we continue to hurt ourselves with turnovers and poor free throw shooting."
The Spartans committed 29 turnovers and only shot 40% from the line at 6 of 15.
Briona McClain (Stroudsburg, PA /Pocono Mt. West ) led the Spartans with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while
Ashley Robinson (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South) added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
The loss drops Northampton to 4-4 overall, 1-3 in Region XIX and 1-1 in the EPAC.
Philadelphia improves to 8-3 overall, 4-0 in Region XIX and 3-0 in conference play.
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Montgomery County Community College for a 5pm tip-off vs. the Mustangs
