BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Women's basketball team fell to the Sussex County Skylanders, 66-52, Thursday evening in the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Despite out-rebounding the Skylanders 61-47, poor shooting from the field cost the Spartans a victory. The Spartans shot 26% (19/73) from the field, 40% (9/22) from behind the foul line, and 35% (5/14) from behind the three-point arc.
Briana Petersen (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North) (15 points, 15 rebounds) and
Nicole Robinson (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) (15 points, 13 rebounds) both finished in double figures.
Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA/Bangor) added 7 points and 13 rebounds for the Spartans.Â
"The girls played hard tonight," remarked head coach
Alyssa Bonenberger, "but we have to be more consistent on offense, and make open shots."
The Skylanders had three players scoring in double-digits, Alyssa Aragon (28 points), Phoebe Livingston (16 points), and Casey Langenbach (12 points).
The loss drops Northampton to 6-11 overall and 5-7 in Region XIX.
Sussex improves to 13-10 overall and 11-8 in Region XIX.
The Spartans will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they travel to Blue Bell, Pa to take on the Montgomery County Mustangs.
