RANDOLPH, NJ - Sophomore
CJ Gantz (Moore Township, PA/Northampton ) was 4 for 5 a double and a stolen base to help power the Northampton Baseball team past NJCAA Division II County College of Morris, 6-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Sullivan Field.
Brandon Ernst (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) lined a two-out 2-run single in the top of the 5th inning to break a 1-1 tie and give the Spartans a 3-1 advantage.
Tyler Horvath (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) added a 2-run homerun (his 3rd of the season in the top of the 7th to extend Northampton's lead to 5-2, which was more than enough for Spartan pitchers
Noah Weber (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) and
Brandon Walters (York, PA/Central York).
Weber improved to 3-0 on the season, with 6 innings of work, allowing 2 runs (2 earned), on 8 hits and 4 strikeouts.
Walters pitched the final 3 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, striking out 2.
Horvath finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, Ernst was 1 for 4 and
CJ Peechatka (Henryville, PA/Pocono Mountain East) was 2 for 4 with a stolen base.
Northampton, ranked 6th in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, improved to 11-2 with the victory.
Morris falls to 9-4.
The Spartans hit the road again this weekend, traveling to Maryland to face CCBC-Dundalk in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 12:00pm on March 24th.
