PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Manor College pitching staff stifled the Northampton bats for two innings ... then the top homerun hitting team in the country broke loose, unleashing six homeruns over the next 5 innings as the Spartans cruised to a 23-3 victory at Ryan Howard Field on Thursday afternoon.Â
The Spartans, whose 48 homeruns lead the country, pounded out 18 hits led by
CJ Peechatka (Henryville, PA/Pocono Mountain East) and
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North). Peechatka finished 3 for 5 with a double, homerun (9th of the season) and 4 RBI, while Dunleavy was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, his 8th homerun of the season and 5 RBI.Â
Tyler Horvath (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East),
CJ Gantz (Moore Township, PA/Northampton ),
Brandon Ernst (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) and
Derek Stento (New Milford, PA/Blue Ridge) each added homeruns as well for Northampton, which also leads the country in team slugging percentage at .657.Â
Ernst's homerun was his 10th of the season, which puts him atop of the national leader board for NJCAA Division III.Â

Tyler McGee picked up the win with 4 innings of work, allowing 0 runs and 1 hit while striking out 4 and walking 1.
Four relievers combined to finish the final 3 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking none.Â
Northampton, ranked 5th in the latest NJCAA poll, improves to 23-4 overall, 5-0 in Region XIX and 4-0 in the EPAC.Â
Manor falls to 4-14 overall, 2-6 in the Region and 1-3 in conference play.Â
The Spartans are off until Sunday when they host 3rd ranked Rowan College @ Gloucester County in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at noon.Â
