BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team continued their torrid offensive production, scoring 17 more runs on Tuesday, in a 17-12 victory over Union County College at Spartan Park.
Corey Stouffer (Souderton, PA/North Penn) was 3 for 4 with a double, homerun and 2 stolen bases and
CJ Peechatka (Henryville, PA/Pocono Mountain East) regained the top spot nationally in homeruns, hitting his 12th of the season in a 3 for 6 performance at the plate.
"Thankfully our offensive production continued today," commented Head Coach
Adrian Yaguez, "we needed all the runs we get ... credit Union, they played hard today and made us earn it."
Chris Smith (Reading, PA/Exeter) was 2 for 5 with a double, homerun and 3 RBI, while
Brandon Ernst (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) added 2 RBI and
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) smashed his 11th homerun of the season.
Four Spartan pitchers combined to allow 12 runs (earned) on 10 hits, while walking 5 and fanning 6.
Jake Decker (Susquehanna, PA/Blue Ridge) got the win with one inning of work, improving to 1-1.
The Spartans, who were ranked 3rd in the NJCAA national poll released today, improve to 28-6 overall and 10-1 in Region XIX.
Union falls to 12-25 overall and 4-13 in the Region.
Northampton travels to Montgomery County Community College on Thursday for an EPAC matchup scheduled to start at 3:30pm.
