BLUE BELL, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team clinched the 2019 EPAC Championship with a 6-3 victory over Montgomery County Community College on Thursday at Mustang Park. The conference title is Northampton's sixth in seven years in the EPAC.
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) had a tremendous all-around game, going 3 for 5 at the plate with a stolen base and a RBI, while also picking up the win on the mound, with 8 innings of work, allowing 3 runs (2 earned), on 7 hits while striking out 6 and walking none.
Nick Klee (Reading, PA/Exeter) and
Colton Langworthy (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) closed out the 9th inning, with Langworthy picking up his 2nd save.
CJ Peechatka (Henryville, PA/Pocono Mountain East) ripped his 13th homerun of the season in the 3rd inning and
CJ Gantz (Moore Township, PA/Northampton ) finished 2 for 5 with a stolen base and 2 runs scored.
Coy Walters (Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) added 2 hits as Northampton improved to 12-4 all-time vs. Montgomery.
The win moves the 3rd ranked Spartans to 29-6 overall, 11-1 in Region XIX and 7-0 in the EPAC.
Montgomery falls to 9-14 overall, 3-8 in Region XIX and 2-4 in conference play.
The Spartans are scheduled to return to action on Saturday when they host NJCAA Division II Lehigh Carbon Community College in a doubleheader at noon.
