ROCHESTER, NY - The Northampton Baseball finished off their 4-game series at Monroe Community College on Sunday, winning games three and four to earn a 3-1 series advantage. The Spartans and Tribunes had split their games on Saturday, with Northampton taking game one 7-2 and dropping the nightcap 8-4.
GAME THREE - WON 1-0
Sophomore
Noah Weber (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) improved to 5-0 on the season, throwing a complete game shut-out, allowing 6 hits, walking one and striking out 4.
Jake DiCesare (Barto, PA/Boyertown) laced a RBI single in the top of the 5th that ended up being the game-winner.
Chris Smith (Reading, PA/Exeter) finished 3 for 3 with a triple and
Derek Stento (New Milford, PA/Blue Ridge) was 1 for 2 to lead the Spartans.
GAME FOUR - WON 7-3
Brandon Walters (York, PA/Central York) picked up the win in game four, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) in 6.1 innings of work.
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) earned the save, picking up the final two outs of the game.
Brandon Ernst (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) led the offense with a 3 for 4 performance at the plate, including a 2-run homerun in the 7th inning.
CJ Peechatka (Henryville, PA/Pocono Mountain East) finished 2 for 2 with a homerun (his 8th of the season) and 2 RBI, while
Chris Smith (Reading, PA/Exeter) was 1 for 3 with a triple.
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) did it on the offensive side as well, lacing a RBI triple in the 3rd inning, when the Spartans opened up the game with 4 runs.
The Spartans return to Pennsylvania with a record of 21-4 as they prepare to travel to Bucks County Community College on Tuesday afternoon.
