NEWTOWN, Pa. - Tied 5-5 entering the top of the 4th inning, the Northampton Baseball team exploded for 10 runs over the next 3 innings to earn a run-rule 15-5 victory in 7 innings over Bucks County Community College on Tuesday afternoon at Centurion Park.
The Spartan offense pounded out 12 hits, including 2 homeruns from
Brandon Ernst (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford), who finished 2 for 5 with 5 RBI.
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) was 3 for 3 with two doubles, a homerun and 2 RBI,
Chris Smith (Reading, PA/Exeter) was 2 for 3 with a homerun and
Corey Stouffer (Souderton, PA/North Penn) went 2 for 4.
Michael Perreault (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) picked up his second win of the season, with 6 inning of work, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits, walking 3 and striking out 2.
Nick Klee (Reading, PA/Exeter) finished off the 7th inning, allowing no runs and one hit.
CJ Gantz (Moore Township, PA/Northampton ) added a triple and a RBI in the the top of the 5th, as the Spartans blew the game open.
The win moves 5th ranked Northampton to 22-4 overall, 4-0 in Region XIX and 3-0 in the EPAC.
Bucks falls to 8-17 overall, 3-8 in Region XIX and 2-1 in conference play.
The Spartans return to EPAC play on Thursday when they travel to Manor College for a match-up with the BlueJays at 3:30pm.
