SEWELL, NJ - The Northampton Baseball team was eliminated from the Region XIX Final Four on Friday, dropping their opening game to 3rd seeded RCGC, 11-1, and then falling to 4th seeded Brookdale, 11-0, in the elimination game.
The Spartan offense, which had powered the team all season, never got on track Friday, producing only 1 run and 6 hits in the two games, after finishing second in the country in runs per game and first in homeruns.
Sophomore standout
Noah Weber (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) suffered his first loss of the season in the opener, allowing 7 runs (6 earned) on 13 hits in 6 innings of action, as RCGC prevailed 11-1.
CJ Peechatka (Henryville, PA/Pocono Mountain East),
CJ Gantz (Moore Township, PA/Northampton ),
Chris Smith (Reading, PA/Exeter) and
Timothy Antigua (Northampton, PA/Northampton) each had one hit.
In game two vs. Brookdale,
Brandon Walters (York, PA/Central York) took the loss on the mound, allowing 8 runs (7 earned) in 1.2 innings of work.
Trevor McGee (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) pitched the final 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, while walking 4 and fanning 3.
Timothy Antigua (Northampton, PA/Northampton) and
CJ Gantz (Moore Township, PA/Northampton ) had the only hits for Northampton.
The Spartans, ranked 3rd in the latest NJCAA poll, fall to 37-10 on the season.
Northampton will now wait unitl Monday evening to see if they get selected for the at-large bid to the NJCAA World Series.
