BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 2nd ranked Northampton Baseball team dropped a non-conference match-up on Thursday afternoon, falling to Division II Lackawanna College, 15-7, at Spartan Park.
Tommy Dunleavy (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) took the loss on the mound, going 3.2 innings, allowing 9 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4.
Trevor McGee (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) and
Nick Klee (Reading, PA/Exeter) each came on in relief, with McGee throwing 4.1 innings, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 11 hits while fanning 6. Klee worked the 9th, allowing no runs on no hits and recording 2 strikeouts.
Chris Smith (Reading, PA/Exeter) paced the offense with a 3 for 3 showing, including a double and a RBI, while
CJ Peechatka (Henryville, PA/Pocono Mountain East) laced a triple and finished 2 for 3.
Tyler Horvath (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) ripped his 7th homerun of the season in the bottom of the 2nd inning to get the Spartans on the board.
The loss drops Northampton to 33-7 overall, while Lackawanna improves to 26-13.
The Spartans finish the regular season this weekend, as they travel to Ocean County College on Saturday and then host the Jersey Blues of Brookdale on Sunday.
