SCRANTON, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team saw their 3-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday, as NJCAA Division I member Lackawanna College downed the Spartans 8-1. 

Stivan Kumbarov (Wind Gap, PA /Pen Argyl) scored Northampton's only goal and goalkeeper Nick Mazzella (Bangor, PA /Bangor ) made 16 saves to lead the Spartans.

"We were overmatched today," commented Head Coach Mario Barrantes, "we knew playing a Division I school would be a tough challenge for us ... Lackawanna was big, fast and very-skilled.  Playing teams like this will only help us as we return to conference play."

The loss drops Northampton to 5-3-0 overall, while Lackawanna improves to 3-1-0. 

The Spartans return to conference play on Tuesday when they host Valley Forge Military College at 3:30pm.
