MEDIA, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team picked up an important victory in their playoff push, downing Delaware County Community College, 64-57, at Williamson College on Saturday afternoon.
Briona McClain (Stroudsburg, PA /Pocono Mt. West ) recorded a double-double with 21 points and 24 rebounds and added 4 blocks and 4 steals as the Spartans overcame a one point halftime deficit to outscore the Phantoms 37-29 in the second half. McClain's 24 rebounds are the 3rd most in a single game in Northampton history.
Maria Pezzino (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic ) added 13 points and 12 rebounds and
Montana Cassaro (Bangor, PA /Bangor) chipped in with 9 points and 6 steals for the Spartans.
The victory moves Northampton to 6-8 overall and 7-0 all-time vs. the Phantoms.
The loss drops Delaware falls to 4-8.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Lehigh Carbon Community College for a 5:00pm tip-off.
