BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Women's Basketball team put together their most complete game of the season on Saturday, downing Brookdale Communtiy College 77-62, at the Arthur L. Scott Center, behind 26 points from sophomore
Kelsey Miller (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)).
All eight Spartans in uniform scored at least 2 points, as Northampton jumped out to a 34-22 halftime lead and then held on in the second half for the victory.
"It was by far our best overall game of the season," remarked Head Coach
Alyssa Bonenberger, "we did a great job on the boards and were able to create some offensive opportunities through our defense."
Briana Petersen (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg North ) had a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while
Briona McClain (Stroudsburg, PA /Pocono Mt. West ) added 10 points and a school-record 32 rebounds.
Mary Theresa Lehman (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Wyoming Seminary ) dished out 10 assists and McClain added 4 blocked shots for Northampton.
The win moves Northampton to 8-9 overall and 1-7 in Region XIX.
Brookdale falls to 4-16 overall and 4-11 in Region play.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Philadelphia to face the Lions at 5pm.
